Head of Finance

As the Head of Finance you will drive financial sustainability across the EAIE and lead the Finance team. You’ll report to and partner with the Deputy Executive Director of Business Operations. You’ll oversee all financial tasks and ensure the beneficial use of capital and resources, including monitoring cashflow, forecasting, budgeting, risk assessment and ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations.


  • Overseeing and managing budgets both small and large. You are responsible for preparing, managing and presenting budgets
  • Reporting of timely, accurate and compliant financial performance information for both management and statutory requirements including VAT
  • Guiding the finance team in terms of day-to-day finance administrative tasks, related to revenues and expenses
  • Coordinating the annual audit and overseeing the preparation of the annual report and financial statements
  • Ensuring appropriate checks and balances are in place to mitigate the risk of error and fraud
  • Ensuring smooth cooperation and communication with external providers, such as auditors and financial administration services

Must Haves

  •  A bachelor’s degree in Business, finance or a related field 
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in (in-house accountant) financial services, or business operations including experience leading a team or working within a middle-management level
  •  Experience with Exact financial software, Dutch VAT and tax laws are a plus
  •  Excellent English communication skills, Dutch language skills are a plus
  •  Elite Excel and Powerpoint expertise from formal training
  •  Ability to think strategically and comprehend and verbalise the wider implications of operational changes for the organisation
  •  A master in presenting large amounts of data in a clear, concise, and easily digestible formats
  •  A rigorously detail-oriented approach, always triple-checking work, and produces exceptional deliverables
  •  Already living in the Amsterdam area

  • Competitive salary:  will be offered depending on experience and based on 37.5 hours per week. An initial 12 month contract will be offered.  This role is for 22.5-30 hours per week.
